Kindergarten- ages 3.5 to 6 Years

Our kindergarten program provides a gentle way to enter the world of school. It is a mixed age group of 3.5-6 year olds. Our youngest children are nurtured in the warm, beautiful, home-like environment of our kindergarten classes. They feel protected and secure in loving interactions with adults, and they enjoy a predictable rhythm of activities throughout the day, season, and school year.
The focus points for this age group are:
  • Development of Language skills
  • Development of Fine motor and Gross Motor skills
  • Developing Inter-personal relationships
  • Age-appropriate Life skills
Learning to learn and developing a love for learning begins in the younger grades by giving sufficient time and space to immerse themselves in what is being learned and into the rhythm of the day. Out of this immersion arise curiosity, wonder and the eagerness to learn more. And this interest and love for learning is what serves as the foundation when future academic work begins.
Our kindergarten program offers three years of mixed-age classes, welcoming younger children’s first steps into school and preparing older Kindergartners for First Grade.
In keeping with the principles of integral education of educating the Physical, Mental & Vital abilities of the child, our kindergarten program prepares children for the academic challenges of grade school by:
  • engaging them with meaningful and practical activities
  • cultivating their feelings through the arts
  • developing reading readiness through story, song, and verses
  • and stimulating creativity and fantasy through imaginative play
Our Preschool and Kindergarten programs develop imagination, verbal capacities, sensory integration, memory, social skills, and motor skills that are essential as the foundation for later learning and academic excellence. This is all achieved in a supportive atmosphere free from formal academics, allowing children’s intellectual abilities to unfold from a foundation of healthy sensory development. By the time they enter our grade school, they are ready and eager to experience new forms of learning.
